A Planned Gift. An Everlasting Connection.

Walter L. SikorskiWalter L. Sikorski ’62 credits The College of New Jersey with launching his expansive teaching career. Armed with his TCNJ education, he spent 35 years in New Jersey public schools, helping his English students unravel Great Expectations, Romeo and Juliet, The Great Gatsby and other classics. At the same time, he stayed involved with his alma mater—“it means your other mother,” he’s quick to point out—by making frequent trips to campus and serving as president and an executive board member of the Alumni Association.

Today, Walter is just as connected to his “other mother,” and he’s found an additional set of benefits. He has created seven charitable gift annuities, all of which support the School of Education.

“I was given a great education at a reduced cost, and this is my way of returning the favor,” says Walter. “It’s also nice to have a source of income from the annuities.”
